Robert Gall, 93, passed away on November 5, 2025, at St. Monica’s Assisted Living Facility in Racine, WI. Bob was born on October 27, 1932, in Racine to Esther and Alfred Gall. A lifelong Racine resident, Bob was a 1951 graduate of Horlick High School. His undergraduate degree was from Dominican College in Racine, and he earned his master’s degree from Carthage College in 1989. Bob was also a proud veteran who served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War.
He married Janet Howe in Madison, WI on July 9, 1960. The couple resided in Racine where Bob taught 5th and 6th grades for Racine Unified Schools, teaching at Knapp, Lincoln, Caddy Vista, Crestview, Stephen Bull, Roosevelt, Gilmore, and Starbuck. Bob and Jan had two daughters, Kathy and Polly, and Bob’s involvement in music significantly impacted their lives as they both went on to become music teachers. He was a member of the Racine Dairy Statesmen Barbershop Chorus and served in countless ways during his 60+ years with them. Bob founded and directed the Churchsingers, a group that was an off shoot from the Dairy Statesmen, who sang in dozens of churches throughout SE Wisconsin and beyond during their 33 years. Bob was also the director of the YMCA Boys’ Choir for 14 years and took them on annual trips to perform during the summer months. Bob was a founding member of The Merry Muggs, a beloved comedy quartet who performed for 42 years together and cherished his friendships and experiences with that group as he sang and played ukulele and string bass. Bob also enjoyed traveling with his family and took many car trips following his dear wife’s meticulously planned travel itineraries.
After 28 years of teaching, Bob retired from Racine Unified and then worked part-time for six years at the Racine Country Club where he enjoyed the perks of using the golf course. Bob was a huge fan of golfing and played in a number of leagues at Ives Grove. His passion for wood carving took flight during retirement, and he was so proud to show off his intricate creations that he made with the carving group at Cesar Chavez Community Center.
Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Kathy (Greg) Berg of Racine and Polly (Mark) Amborn and his granddaughter, Lorelai, of Kenosha along with his sister-in-law, Linda Howe, three nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jan, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren (Nancy) and Richard (Peg), two nieces, and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 10:30am at Faithbridge Church (10402 Northwestern Ave.) in Franksville. The Rev. Dr. Creighton Kaye will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th at the church from 6-8pm and 9:00-10:15am on Saturday. Burial will take place at Southern WI Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Monica’s Assisted Living facility, Bob’s friend and physical therapist, Kelly Bardosy, and St. Croix Hospice for their unwavering care, support and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Faithbridge Church, Carthage College Music Department, or St. Monica’s Assisted Living would be appreciated.

Bob Pelc says:
Only knew Bob for a short 10 years yet I feel like he was a long time friend. I met him through my brother in law Gary Stamm on Branson Missouri golf outings. Warm, kind, gregarious and interesting. He seemed to embrace all facets of life. It was obvious from first meeting he loved his wife and family. I want to express my sincere sympathy to all of you who knew Bob. It is a terrible loss. Wish I had a Father like him. Bob Pelc

Barbara Kopack Hill says:
I have so many fond memories of Bob. As a young teacher he took me under his wing at Lincoln. He taught me how to create flexible lesson plans and how to understand the various family situations. Bob had a heart of gold and his laughter could fill a room. I will forever be grateful for his guidance and encouragement.
Dave and Cindy Brown says:
SO many fond memories of Bob, from Lincoln School as well as his music endeavors. His sense of humor was legendary. He will surely be missed!
Linda Heitzinger says:
I had the pleasure of working with Bob at Gilmore and then Starbuck. He was such a kind man and a wonderful teacher. I loved how he shared his love of music with us all.
Douglas Turbush says:
Bob Gall was a cherished friend of our father, Chuck Turbush — truly a brother in song through their years together with the Racine Dairy Statesmen Barbershop Chorus. In their 80s, life brought them even closer as neighbors at Fountain Hills Apartments in Mt. Pleasant, where they looked after one another with a daily morning call and a bond built on music, friendship, and deep mutual care.
We were blessed to have Bob in our lives, as so many were.
With love and gratitude,
The Turbush Family — Doug, Pranee, Jack, Carole, and Anne
