Robert N. Berta, age 68 and a resident of Pleasant Prairie, died Wednesday May 18th 2011 at United Hospital Systems St. Catherine’s Campus.
Born on December 25th 1942 in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Leon A. and Catherine (Kowal) Berta Sr.
A lifelong Kenosha resident, he was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Bradford High School.
On August 1st 1962, he married Donna Bareika in Winthrop Harbor IL.
He was employed for 38 years as a wire drawer with Mac Whyte Wire Rope Company, retiring in 1999.
He was a former member of St. Casmir Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose since 1982. He was an Eagle Scout, an award he shared with many U.S. Presidents and heroes. At the time he earned that award, he was the youngest person in Kenosha to reach that achievement.
He loved working on old cars with his son and also loved camping at Jellystone Park in Caledonia, WI with his family. He loved his family very much, and enjoyed family parties at his in-laws.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Pleasant Prairie, one son Robert T. Berta of Kenosha; two daughters Terri M. Berta of Pleasant Prairie; Jenny (Frank J.) Pacetti of Kenosha and one grandson, Troy T. Berta of Kenosha.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Monday May 23rd, 2011 at 11:00AM at St. James Catholic Church in Kenosha (5804-Sheridan Road). Visitation with the family will also take place on Monday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at a later date at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
