Richard L. “Farmer” Sluga, age 83, formerly of Sullivan, died Sunday February 26th 2017 at Grande Prairie Health and Rehab in Pleasant Prairie.
Richard was born in Kenosha on June 20th 1933 to the late Leo and Marie (Grinder) Sluga. He was educated in the local schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army, being honorably discharged in 1954.
“Farmer”, as he liked to be called, was often found working hard. Besides raising cattle and produce, he loved all the machinery around the farm, and nothing made him happier than taking a giant chainsaw to a tree. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, trapping, and pheasant hunting.
Surviving Richard are his children Kathleen Kreuser of Antioch, Kimberly Pontillo of Pleasant Prairie, Thomas (Joanna) Sluga of Kenosha and Janet Sluga of Long Beach CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Audra Hartwig and Kody De Loria and by his great grandchildren Leana, Freya and Alexa, as well as by his brother Larry Sluga of Oshkosh and his sister Betty Hubbard of Pleasant Prairie.
Farmer was preceded in death by his brothers Robert “Ben” Sluga and Roger Sluga and by his son Steven Sluga.
Private services with military honors will be held by Richard’s family.
