Reyna Castro, age 60, of Kenosha, died peacefully on Saturday August 19, 2017 at home, surrounded by her family who cherished her, with her beloved feline companions, Evie, Oreo and Rave who never left her side.
Reyna was born in the city of Cerritos in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on December 29, 1956. She was the daughter of Esteban and Felicitas (Torres) Serna.
Reyna was a vibrant, active person who loved to run and take long walks by the lake. She adored special times with her beloved grandchildren and spent a lot of time in her garden, cultivating the brightly colored flowers she loved.
Reyna was a joyous and active member of the Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Jesus Christ Church, where she regularly sat in the front row to be close to the music and the beauty of prayer. She was a spiritual woman who took great comfort in her faith and
in the love of her family. Reyna was diagnosed with the terminal illness, Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) in 2012.
Reyna is survived by her children, Guillermo Castro Jr., Jaime (Carmen Lara) Castro, and Judy Lynn (Jacky Leung) Castro and by her grandchildren Evan Paul Castro, Ava Marie Castro, Sofie Maria Castro, and Stella Abigail Castro as well as by her former husband and father of her children, Guillermo Castro Sr. She is further survived by her brother Cecilio Serna, her sister Martha Serna, her nephew Mario Almazan Jr., her niece Laura Garcia, and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday August 25, 2017 at 7:00PM at Apostolic Assembly of Faith in Jesus Christ (720 Washington Road) with Pastor Armando Garcia presiding. Visitation with the family will be at the church on Friday from 5:00 until the time of services.
To honor Reyna’s memory, her family requests that you wear a piece of colorful clothing to her service on Friday.
