It was in Ladysmith that Pauline met her future husband, Robert D’Amore.  They married on September 23, 1962, in Kenosha. Pauline was educated mostly in Aplington, IA schools, graduating from Aplington High School in 1959. Pauline was employed at Sears in Kenosha and later spent over 30 years working with Dr. James Kriege and the rest of the staff at Shopko Optical in Kenosha.

Pauline is survived by her children Denise (Gary) Oberst, Robert (Mary) D’Amore, and Debra (Blake) Topel; grandchildren Elizabeth (Greg) Zuver, Kari D’Amore, Christianna, D’Angelo, and Janiah Topel; great-grandchildren Abby, Ellie, and Benjamin Zuver and Vito Topel; twin brother Paul (Doug) Manifold; sisters Donna Voss, Sandra Edler, Jeanne Weinert and Karen Counts; brothers-in-law Salvatore (Elaine) D’Amore and Mario D’Amore; and several nieces and nephews. Pauline centered her life around caring for her husband, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She regularly hosted family meals throughout the year in addition to all of the holidays as spending time with family was very important to her. Pauline and her husband Bob camped all across the United States with their children and later as a couple in retirement. Pauline’s hobbies included gardening, feeding the backyard birds, crocheting and other crafts. She often helped Bob put the finishing touches on his many woodcraft projects. Pauline spoke daily with each of her children, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

We would like to thank the staff from Kenosha Place Assisted Living and the staff from Aurora at Home Hospice, who guided our family through this journey with compassion, professionalism, support, and kindness.

Visitation will be at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 5601 Washington Road, Kenosha, WI on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4:00-5:30pm with funeral services immediately following visitation.  Interment will be held privately in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Heavenly Hearts Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
