Patrick E. Kitterman, 64, of Woodstock, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016, after a long illness.
Patrick was born in 1952 in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of the Philip and Florence (Garvey) Kitterman, and was the youngest of four children. His family moved to Effingham, Illinois in 1954, where he grew up, and stayed to raise his family.
Patrick was a 1970 graduate of Effingham High School, who was noted for his outstanding artistic ability, and received many awards in the field of art for his creative accomplishments.
He worked as a bindery operator for World Color Press in Effingham, until the 1990’s, when he moved to the Chicago area where the majority of his family lived, and he continued in the bindery in their plant in Bensenville, Illinois. It was in Bensenville in 2001 where he met his future wife, Debbie.
In 2003, they moved to Wheeling, Illinois, where he spent several years working for Geneva International as a piano technician, and as the only employee of the owner of Bison Drums. Most recently they lived in Woodstock, Illinois, where he began his own creative woodworking business, and where he and Debbie were married on August 20, 2011.
Not only did Pat have an uncanny artistic ability, but he was an accomplished musician, and played drums for various local bands, starting in his early teens and continuing until he moved to Chicago in the mid 1990’s. He could often be seen playing drums on the weekends for many local festivals or weddings in the Sagebrush Band. Pat enjoyed entertaining both with his artistic abilities and playing music whenever the opportunity would arise, and always made himself available to help anyone who wanted to learn more about the creation of art or how to become involved in playing drums, or in music in general.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Deborah (Debbie) Znajda Kitterman; daughter, Stephanie Waldhoff (Todd), and son Jason (Prabha); and grandchildren, Mariah, Damien, Jay and Mia; great grand daughter, Hadley Rose; sister Kaye (“Sis”) Dougherty and husband, Lee; brother, Philip (“Butch”) Kitterman and wife, Marj; many nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, oldest brother, Jerome and his youngest child Jeffrey.
His warmth and kindness made friends of everyone who came in contact with him. A friend to many and a mentor to some, Pat will be missed, but not forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at Journey Church (10700 75th Street) in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on Thursday, October 13th at 1:00PM with Pastor Dan Remus officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:30 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
Lisa Davies says:
The family is in my thoughts and prayers. Uncle Pat will be missed dearly.
Eric Thompson says:
I’m truly saddened for you, Debbie. I didn’t know Pat was ill. We lost track of each other years ago. Pat, Terry and I started Sagebrush 1972-1976 and Terry and the Tailfinz 1992-1996. Pat and I were very close friends for many years, we worked together at World Color from 1972 until he went to Chicago. There will never be anyone like him. I have often thought of Pat and all that we did together, I will never forget him, his talent, his humor, his creativity and his loyalty as a friend. I will continue to smile every time I think of him, especially his smiling face every time I turned to look at him when we played out. Pat was a ‘gift’ to all of us who were blessed to have shared some part of our lives with him. Thank you, Debbie, for fulfilling, loving and taking such good care of my friend. I remember Pat telling me about you… you truly were a ‘gift’ to him and he loved you very much. God bless you. Eric
