Michael D. Vepraskas, age 87 a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday May 17, 2006 at Brookside Care Center.
Born on October 5, 1918 he was the son of the late Frank and Bernice (Paczkowski) Vepraskas.
He was educated in the schools of Kenosha.
He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant from May 6, 1942 until January 5, 1946 and worked as an Entertainment Director. He received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Ribbon.
He married Olga Shatrawka. She died in 1974. On July 12, 1975, he married Virginia Lisneck at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kenosha.
He is a member of St. Mary?s Lutheran Church. For many years, he was employed as an artist at Dynamatic Corporation working as a photographer and an illustrator. Upon his retirement, he worked at Happenings Magazine as an artist. He was also Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 47, F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife Virginia of Kenosha; four sons, Michael (Claudia) Vepraskas of North Carolina, Steve (Diane) Vepraskas of Grafton WI, John (Carla) Vepraskas of Tenn., Doug (Candace) Stein of Kenosha one daughter Cheryl Ziccarelli of Black Earth WI and nine grandchildren, Eric, Andy, Paul, Adam, Laura, Matthew, Sarah, Nathan, and Aaron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and Edward.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 20, 2006 at 11:00AM at St. Mary?s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. (2001-80th Street) Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of services. Entombment will follow at Greenridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
