Mary Lou Peters, a longtime resident of Kenosha, passed away on October 22nd 2024. She was 97 years old.
During her life she raised four children while working full-time jobs. While in the workforce she was employed by Frost company. She held the first management position when women took second place. After retirement, she held several part-time positions. Also, did volunteer work with Kenosha Hospital, Hospice Alliance, and the Historical Society. She belonged to Women’s Network and Quota Club
Mom/Mary enjoyed bowling and golfing – she was an outgoing person. Loved to sing and dance. It was a joy to watch her and her brother jitterbug. She had a great sense of humor, could tell a good joke and enjoyed a good joke. Her smile and laughter were genuine and contagious.
She was a devout Catholic, raising us to know and love God. Sang in the choir and drove herself, while she could, to attend church.
If we wanted something special, she always found a way. When we needed her to listen, she would and advise us. She never wanted to be a burden to her children. It was more a privilege than a sacrifice to care for her. The role was reversed at one time. We were blessed to have her all these years and now she went to be with Jesus.
So, Mom, thank you for your unconditional love, your sacrifices, your unwavering belief in us. We are who we are because of you. And while we will miss your physical presence every day, we know your love surrounds us. It’s a love we will carry with us in our hearts always… Sleep well Mom
We know you would be saying “I have to put my face on.”
When it’s cold out it would be “wear your headgear.”
Mary is survived by her children, Gail Haber, Michael Peters, Catherine Fortner, and Kristine (Tom) Boardman (nee Doherty). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Peters and Briana (Adam) Graan (nee Doherty), and her great-grandchildren, Marciella, Audriana, Kamden, Elyvia, and Elexia.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Brookside Care Center who lovingly and compassionately cared for Mary during her final days.
Services for Mary will be held on Thursday, October 31st at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park (4300 Green Bay Road, Kenosha) at 11:30am. Visitation with the family will be held from 11am until the time of service.

I am so sorry to see that aunt Mary has passed away. She was such a beautiful person inside and out! I never saw her without “her face on”!!! I was not able to extend my condolences in person because we were at a family wedding in Kentucky. Hope you are all doing well and have many happy memories of her.
