Mary A. Bliss, 93, of Racine passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab. Mary was born on February 10, 1925 in Racine to Bohumil and Mary (Danek) Zalesak. She was educated in the schools of Racine and graduated from William Horlick High School in 1943. As a child she was a member of Sokol and trained in ballroom dancing which she enjoyed doing for many years. Mary worked as a switchboard operator for the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and for J.I. Case. She married James Bliss in Waukegan, IL in 1968. She also worked for many years as an executive assistant at Western Publishing until her retirement in 2010. Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by, her husband; her parents; two sons, Joseph and Brian and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Eleanor) and Billy (LaSetty).
Mary is survived by, two sons, Jon (Jeanenne) Ross of Pleasant Prairie and Lance (Deborah) Ross of Mt. Pleasant; her daughter, Laurel(Lonny) Wickersheim of Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren, David, Shawn, Ryan and Jeff; seven great grandchildren, Saylor, Coast, Connor, Logan, Devin, Alex and Troy as well as other family and friends.
A Memorial Mass for Mary will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. Therese Catholic Church (2020 – 91st Street). An inurnment will take place at the chapel at Westlawn Cemetery in Racine at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, March, 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Racine Zoo would be appreciated.
