Mary (Toms-Langston) Aycock, age 86 a resident of Kenosha, formerly of Kenly North Carolina, died Friday July 14, 2006 at Washington Manor Health and Rehab.
Born February 13, 1920, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George Pinkney Toms and Eula (Edgerton) Toms.
After graduating from Asheville Teacher?s College, her career of teaching elementary school and social work with migrant children was spent in Johnston and Wilson County School systems. She enjoyed her volunteer work with Wilson Memorial Hospital after retirement. She was a long time member of Kenly Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed time spent with the Kenly Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rupert Langston Sr., and a brother Worth Toms.
She is survived by her son Rupert Langston Jr. of Kenosha; her daughter Barbara Langston of Raleigh NC; her sisters Grace Philbeck, Ruth Hodge, and Ann Smith all of Forest City NC; five grandchildren Rob and Ryan Phillips, Lee, Seth, and Larkin Langston; two great grandchildren Ian and Lauren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday July 17, 2006 at 11:00am at Kenly Missionary Baptist Church, followed by interment at Kenly Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday July 16, 2006 from 5:30 until 7:30pm at Coley Funeral Home.
