Mary Ann Romano (Marrazzo)

On February 18, 2026, at 99 years young, Mary A. Romano passed away peacefully surrounded by family.  Mary was born July 23, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Jennie Marrazzo.  Mary came to Kenosha as a child and was educated in Chicago and Kenosha.

On October 27, 1953, she was joined in marriage to Jerry A. Romano.  They shared 32 loving years before Jerry predeceased her in 1986.  Mary bravely started a new chapter with strength and independence.  She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas parish and later St. Peter Catholic Church.

As a young woman, Mary was employed by Coopers (now Jockey International) and KUSD.  She had fond memories of time dedicated to those positions, yet family was always her priority.  Mary loved her travels, especially to California, South Carolina and Florida where special memories were created.

Mary enjoyed walking, cooking, reading, eating sweet desserts and conversing with everyone.  Mary made many friends and acquaintances of all ages with her outgoing personality and always made an effort to stay in touch with them.

Family, friends and faith filled her life and her heart.  She was Nana to so many.  Mary’s reminders regarding Daylight Saving Time and her reminders to  “be careful” as we walked out the door will be missed. But mostly we shall miss her love.

Mary will be remembered for her strength, her vibrant spirit and the unconditional love she gave to her family.  Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the family she cherished.  She will be deeply missed and always remain in our hearts.

Left to honor her memory are daughter Janice Romano, son Jerry (beloved daughter-in-law Lisa) Romano, granddaughters, Meghan (Salvatore) Bilotta, Jennifer Romano, great-grandsons Giovanni and Matteo whom she “loved to the moon and back”.  Extended family, Joe, Jean, Marissa and Andrea Garretto, and Deb Marx.

As a tribute to Mary, please reach out to someone just to say hello.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (2224 30th Ave, Kenosha) on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at 11 A.M. A public visitation will also be held at church on the same day from 10 A.M. until the time of Mass. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Alliance of Pleasant Prairie WI in Mary’s honor.

Thoughts for Mary Ann Romano (Marrazzo);

  • I will miss you so much! You were there for all the important events in my life. I was so proud of you when you drove by yourself to the “farm” 1 block WEST of I94. When I was little I thought Kenosha was so far away because you couldn’t drive back the same day.

    Dear Janice, and Jerry, Lisa & Family,
    What a beautiful photo of your mother! She was a beauty, inside & out, and you were her greatest joy. Being blessed with long life, you have had the wonderful gift of her love all of these years. So many stories to hold dear & bring joy when retelling. Sending our deepest sympathy & love from Scottsdale.

  • To the whole Romano family, my deepest sympathy. Mary and I were friends and neighbors for over 40 yrs. We had a lot of fun times together. I will miss her very much. She was a dear lady. I am in the Carribean for the next 10 days– so I won’t be able to attend the funeral– but please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    My dad, Gene Marrazzo, and Mary were first cousins. Through the years my siblings and I would see her at family gatherings. She always seemed so happy to see us and find out what we were involved in. We have good memories of her.
