Mark Hobart Snelling, age 90, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2010. He was born in Zion, IL on October 30, 1919. On May 3, 1952 he married Karleen Lehman. She preceded him in death in May of 1990. He is also preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Gertrude, brothers James, David, Arthur Jr, Byron, and sisters Ruth Oakes of Zion and Elsie Ower of California. He is survived by a sister Rachel Alshouse, Pleasant Prairie, and many nieces and nephews
Mark worked as an inspector in Quality Control at Johns Manville until his retirement. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI and served on many committees throughout the years. He loved his church and was always eager to serve. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater including Guadalcanal during World War II. He was an accomplished tuba player, loved music and loved to read.
NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION OF FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 1 2010 at 10:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church- Somers. (1520-Green Bay Road or ? mile south of HWY E on Green Bay Road) Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00AM until the time of services. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
