Our Mom, Marie Alice Abbott (nee Farley), went home to our Lord on November 7th, 2023. In her life, Mom and Dad ran Abbott Suburban Foods in Caledonia. It was a neighborhood grocery store where folks met and became friends. Mom’s love of her neighbors and her community led to famously remembered bike parades, parties, and fun puppet shows. Her cakes were legendary. Mom was a diverse gifted artist working in stone, glass, clay, and paint. She loved being a docent at RAM, conducting classes at Wustum, and sharing her craft with people at the Wilson Senior Center in Milwaukee. Mom believed that you should never stop learning, no matter your age. Mom worked for many years for the Racine Unified School District and retired in 1997. Throughout her life, Mom shared her talents with church, community, schools, and family.
Mom will be lovingly missed by so many, especially her family.
Marie is survived by her children: Andrew D. (Mary) Abbott of Racine, WI, John F. (Leesa) Abbott of Cape Coral, FL, Margaret M. Abbott of Racine, WI, Wendy S. Diane O.activities lakeshore at Siena says:
Marie and I had some wonderful conversations, laughed & cried together too.
One time we talked about Dragonflies. We agreed that they were given a extra set of wings so Angel’s can ride on their backs. So when you see one it could be Marie visiting.
God rest her beautiful soul!!!
Peggy Abbott says:
That is so special to hear that Diane! My daughter and I have always felt the visitation of loved ones passed when we encounter a Dragonfly. How lovely Mom mentioned that too. She will be missed and she was loved fiercely. All our friends at Lakeshore at Siena were superb.

She was a wonderful person & neighbor. The bike parades down Johnson Ave and the hot chocolate served from a cauldron on Halloween in front of the original sore. Very fond memories from my childhood. Condolences to the Abbott family!

My husband Frank Germinaro had Marie as his secretary at Fine Arts for the years he was principal. He had so much love and respect for her. I know that Frank would never have been a successful principal without her. She was his left and right hand. He freely admitted it!! He loved seeing her at the FARTS luncheons. Such a talented and wonderful woman. So loved by so many. I would like to think that she is now reunited with Frank who passed away Jan. 19. My sympathies to your family.

Aunt Marie was so loving and FUN! I remember being a little girl visiting Glenn and Marie and thinking they were like magical beings. Silly and gracious and always making everyone feel special and welcome. Marie was generous with her laughs and talents. She was a beacon and we are lucky to carry her light with us. Peace to all of her loved ones who will miss her physical presence terribly.
