Leon Sommer, a resident of Kenosha, died Friday August 27, 2010 at his residence.
Leon was born on July 16, 1929 in Kenosha, the son of Leon J. and Clara (Baum) Sommer. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha.
On October 9, 1954 he married Elisabeth (Betty) Katharine Rasch at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kenosha.
Leon served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in the Korean Conflict.
Leon was employed at Triclover as an inspector for 38 years retiring in 1988. Leon was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed classic cars.
Leon is survived by his wife Betty, one son Jeffrey (Shari) Sommer of Kenosha, and one daughter Pamela (Rick) Brandes of Kenosha. He is also survived by four grandchildren Justin Brandes, Jason Brandes, Rachel Brandes and Joshua Sommer and one great grand daughter Madison Brandes.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, stillborn daughter Janis Kay, and three sisters Leona, Evelyn, Bernice
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday August 29, 2010 at 4:30 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church (2223 51st Street). Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday at the church from 2:30 PM until the time of Mass. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
