Joy Ann Baker (Nee: McPhillips) aged (nicely, Thank you) (Nevermind), passed away into God’s loving hands on Friday February 12, 2010.
Joy was born in Racine on May 30, 1942.
Joy graduated from Park High School in 1960 after which she joined the Air Force.
Soon after, she met her soul mate and future husband, Clay. They were married February 16, 1963 and would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in a few days.
While raising her family of four, Joy returned to the work force rising to the position of project manager for Surgitek retiring in 1991.
Joy then concentrated her efforts on growing C.J. Charter Service, on she and her husband’s boat, the Clay’s Joy.
Joy was active at the Harbor Lite Yacht Club, and loved naughty romance novels, Elvis, reality shows, chic flicks, cooking, yard work, interior decorating, owning big trucks, going for long rides on the Harley, Miller High Life, a good fire, all of Nature’s critters, the Packers and going on cruises. She enjoyed making lists. Joy’s family was her number one priority and always came first.
Joy was preceded in death by her father Mac, sisters Bonnie and Julie, grandson Dylan and nieces Kelly and Becky, in-laws Lester and Magdelane Baker, brother-in-laws Steve Edward and Ron Morse.
Joy is survived by her husband Clay Baker, sons Chip Baker, Rick Baker and Dan Baker, daughter Robin Baker, her mother Lori McPhillips, sister Wendy (Michael) Cramer, brother Jack (Pam) McPhillips, sister-in-laws Karon Morse and Sharon Edwards,her grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice Alliance and Dr. Benjakul. They would also like to thank family and friends for their support during this difficult time.
There will be a celebration of life for Joy (Beba) on Saturday February 20, 2010 at the Harbor Lite Yacht Club (559 State Street Racine) from 6:00PM until closing.
