Joseph Giannola (1927 – 2010)

Joseph Vito Giannola, age 83, a resident of Somers, died Wednesday April 21, 2010.

Joseph was born on January 20, 1927 in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Vito and Eleanor (Badalmenti).

Joseph served in the U.S. Army.

On May 8, 1949 he married Pearl (Omelianchuck) at Holy Family Church in Chicago, IL.

Joseph was employed as a custodian at Zion Elementary Schools and retired in 1989.

Joseph is survived by his sons Joe Giannola Jr of Somers, Sam (Brenda) Giannola of Lac du Flambeau, and Len (Karen) Giannola of Somers; and daughters Bonnie (Joe) Gogola of Madison, Jackie (George) Stoner of Somers, Cassie Giannola of Kenosha and Janet Agnes (Michael) Cardinali of Somers. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael (Tracy) Gogola, Jamie Gogola, Brian Gogola, David and Gina Lerdahl, Joey and Danny Cardinali, and Matthew Giannola. Joseph is further survived by one sister Eleanor Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2005, two brothers Leonard Giannola, Sam Giannola, and two sisters Margaret Avina and Mary Sommario. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren Nicholas and Gabrielle Cardinali in infancy.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 27th 2010 at Northside Bible Church at 2:00PM. (1600-37th Street) Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday at the church from 1:00PM until the time of services.
