Joan Marie (Martin) Collins, 80, of Kenosha passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her residence in Waterford. She was born May 27, 1935 in Kenosha. Joan attended St. Thomas Aquinas school in Kenosha, and graduated from Bradford High School in 1953. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Joan was an officer and member of the Employees’ Mutual Benefit Association (EMBA) with the Wisconsin Natural Gas Company in her younger years, and an officer and member of Women of the Moose in her later years. She worked for 38 years at Kenosha Memorial Hospital/United Hospital until her retirement at age 73. Joan enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, and gardening. She was devoted to feeding birds outdoors, and kept a wide variety of pets indoors.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Collins of Yorkville, and Nancy Collins of Yorkville; two sons, Ray (Diane) Collins of Kenosha, and Robert Collins of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 7 grandchildren (Stephanie (Andrew) Szabo, Valerie Collins, Zachary Kaminski, Nicholas Kaminski, Emily (Matt) Maccari, Kyle Collins and Ryan Collins); 2 great grandchildren (Sienna and Madisen) and many nieces and nephews; a brother, Gerald Martin, Kenosha; two sisters, Mickey Christenson of Arizona, and Judith Dullinger of Kenosha; and fiancé, Edward Gascoigne of Presque Isle, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Martin, a brother, James Martin; and a granddaughter, Audrey Collins.
A gathering to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Wednesday May 25th 2016 beginning at 5:00PM at the Fireside Restaurant in Kenosha. (2801-30th Avenue) All are welcome to attend.
