Jean Marie Wendtorf (Knapp), age 58, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at Froedtert South in Pleasant Prairie, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 16, 1967, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of late Earl Knapp and Carol (Chmelik) Knapp. Jean attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1985.

After briefly working at ShopKo in Kenosha, Jean dedicated herself to raising her three beloved children.

On October 17, 1998, Jean married the love of her life, Robert Wendtorf, in Kenosha. Together, they built a beautiful family filled with warmth and affection.

Jean put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and it was through her faith that she found peace and strength throughout her life. She believed in the power of love, kindness, and generosity, and her deep faith was evident in everything she did.

Jean had many passions, including cooking for family and friends, something she deeply enjoyed doing.

She was also an avid crafter, spending countless hours working with her Cricut machine, woodworking, embroidery, and painting.

Her creative spirit extended to her love of music, with country music—particularly Reba McEntire—bringing her joy and comfort throughout her life. In all her endeavors, Jean’s gentle spirit and meticulous nature shone through.

Jean also had a special bond with animals, especially her cherished dog, Lucas, who will miss her deeply.

Above all, Jean’s greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. She poured her heart into ensuring her children and grandchildren felt loved, supported, and cared for. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched everyone she met, making her the cornerstone of her family.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Wendtorf; children, Matthew Wendtorf, Sarah (Alan) Dennis, and Jacob (Samantha) Wendtorf; grandchildren, Mason, Greyson, and Violet; siblings, David Knapp, Lenny Knapp, Brenda (Rick) Desotell, Raymond (Autumn) Knapp, and Benjamin (Tabitha) Knapp.

She is also survived by Natalie Latta, who was like a daughter to Jean, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, along with her many dear friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Carol Knapp, sisters-in-law: Kimberly Knapp and Janice Koepke, her mother-in-law: Emolyn Wendtorf and father-in-law: Robert E. Wendtorf.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Jim and Kathy, Matt and Raychel, J.R. and Donna, and all the neighbors and friends who provided loving support during this difficult time.

A special thank you is also extended to the staff at Froedtert South for their compassionate care of Jean over the years.
