Jay Martin Stankiewicz passed away on December 4th, 2025. He was 66 years old.
Born on August 24th 1959 to Marion and Shirley Stankiewicz; Jay grew up on 24th street across from Holy Nativity Church. He had many neighborhood friends that he had the time of his life with. From building forts, football games, and kick the can, to name a few, he was outside from morning to when the street light came on, which meant get home. He loved to climb the apple trees and pick eat the green apples with his sister Jill. He had to remember to bring the salt shaker home before his mom realized it was gone. Jay played CYC football for some years with his little sister Jill being the cheerleader. Jay didn’t talk till he was 3½, you would have to ask his older sisters, Robin and Sue, why that happened. Their mom would tell you it was because the girls spoke for him.
Jay graduated from Reuther Alternative High School, but while attending school he would help out his stepdad on weekends with his home building business, Salica Builders. This is where Jay’s love for carpentry began. He was a carpenter his whole life, retiring some years back. Throw in there a year of working at MacWhyte’s, where our dad worked, and he hated it there. Jay also attended Gateway Racine for a culinary program. He loved to cook and became a chef at Johnson Wax for some years. The hours were long and it took time away from his kids, so he went back to building homes.
Jay was a father to Ryan Stankiewitz and Andrew Stankiewitz; father-in-law to Andy’s wife Nikki; grandfather to their two daughters. Mollee and Lucy. Ryan resides in Kenosha and Andy resides in Washington state. Jay, along with Gramma Shirley, were the boys’ biggest cheerleaders in any and every sport they participated in!
Jay will be remembered for his carpentry skills, his cooking skills, his people skills, and his ability to live like a rock star!
Jay is survived by his two sons, Ryan and Andy, his sisters Robin Philip, Susan Fehr, and Jill Clark. Also his two favorite nephews, Nick and Joey Bruno and their many friends who had a great relationship with Jay. His other nieces and nephews Ben Scholey, Brian Fehr, Vanessa Zangardi, Zach Fehr, Caitlan Fehr, Jennifer Phillip, and Jon Phillip.
Jay was pre-deceased by Shirley Salica, mom, Marion Stankiewitz, dad, Ben Salica, stepfather, and many of his pets that he loved with all his heart, especially Frankie and Baby Girl.
Jay, we will always carry your memory in our hearts, you will be forever missed and always loved. Nothing will be the same without you, but not to worry, you will always have a place in our hearts. Our hearts Jay. This isn’t goodbye, just a see you later!
