Janice L. Mentek, age 64, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at UHS Kenosha Hospital.
Janice was born on February 18, 1953 in Kenosha to Emory M. and Dolores (Olson) Kanios.
In 1977, Janice married Jesse Wember. They would later divorce. She was then married to James Mentek and they would also divorce. Janice performed clerical duties at a variety of places, most recently at the Lake County Health Department for ten years.
Janice loved art and crafts and had a talent for drawing. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family. She enjoyed listening to local bands and dancing. She attended Journey Church. Janice loved to go shopping and spoiling her grandchildren.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Erica (Samuel) Almaraz and Katera Mentek, both of Kenosha and by her grandchildren, Monica Tello, Samuel Almaraz, Jr., Adrian Almaraz, Ariana Almaraz and Abel Contreras IV as well as by her brother Michael Kanios of Kenosha.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services for Janice will be held on Saturday August 12, 2017 at Journey Church (10700 75th street) at 1:30PM. Visitation with her family will be held from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
