James L. Schneider, 90, passed away at Lincoln Village on Thursday, July, 21, 2011. He was born in Racine on May 27, 1921, to Alvinand Ruth (nee: Lahr) Schneider.
He was a graduate of Park High School, 1939, and Wheaton College, 1948.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps in England and France during the Second World War. He was employed by Wisconsin Natural Gas andWisconsin Electric, retiring in 1985.
Jim was a life-long member of Racine Bible Church. He was active in the youth ministry of the church for 20 years and taught Sunday School for 60years. He had a keen interest in the work of foreign missions around the world. Jim was associated with Koinonia Missionary Fellowship which carries out a ministry of evangelism and church planting in Romania.
He married Jane W. Falk on June 20, 1969. He is survived by his wife andtwo step-children, Jonathan (Margaret) Falk and Jane (Kirk) Freeman; and adopted son, Cristian (Anne) Barbosu of Arad, Romania; grandchildren,Christopher (Sarah) Falk, Katherine (Timothy) Coughlin, Emily Falk, Charissa (David) Osborn, Jonathan Freeman, Fiona, Tara, Eden Barbosu; and great-children, Cole and Emily Falk and Elias Coughlin. Jim is also
survived by a brother, Alan Schneider and a sister, Margaret “Susy” (Henry) Wynstra. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant twin brother, David and a sister in law Geneva Schneider.
A memorial service will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring Street, Sturtevant, on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Spencer DeBurgh officiating. A private family internment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and relatives may meet with the family at the church on Monday, August 8 from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Koinonia Missionary Fellowship.
