Irene M. McGivern, age 87, of Kenosha passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Crossroads Care Center. Irene was born on January 15, 1932 in Manistique, MI to Bernard and Wendla (Carlson) Lancour. She was educated in the schools of Manistique and was formerly a sister of St. Joseph of Concordia, KS for over 20 years. Irene married Bernard McGivern on September 7, 1974 at St. Thomas in Milwaukee. She was formerly employed as an L.P.N. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Omaha, NE and Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee. Irene also worked as a grade school teacher for 6 years. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, a past volunteer at Woodstock Nursing and very active in Human Concerns at St. Thomas. Irene was also the director for the enrichment of the elderly and acted as a tutor. She was a nurses aide, worked with the mentally handicapped, a substitute teacher and personally involved with the catholic church.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; her husband, Bernard; two brothers, Bernard and Harold Lancour; two sisters-in-law, Pat and Betty Lancour and a brother-in-law, George Neville.
Irene is survived by, three brothers, David (Maureen) Lancour, Edward (Debra) Lancour and Bob (Sandy) Lancour; her sister, Marie Neville as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church (2020 – 91st Street) with interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Concordia, KS (215 Court Street, P.O. Box 279, Concordia, KS 66901) would be greatly appreciated.
