Helen P. Pflugrad, age 95 a resident of Kenosha, died January 1, 2018, at Froedtert South Kenosha Medical Center Campus.
Born on October 25, 1922 in Kenosha she was the daughter of the late Emil and Frances (Vadjon) Kazell. A lifelong Kenosha resident, she was educated in the schools of Kenosha.
On October 14, 1944 she would marry George S. Pflugrad at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran in Kenosha. George preceded her in death on September 7, 1983.
She was employed in Food Service for many years at Carthage College retiring in 1986.
She was a long-time member of Friedens and as a younger woman was active in various groups in the church. She loved to sew and was a talented seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her specialty was her chocolate chip cookies. Even at 95 years of age she prepared Thanksgiving dinner and baked all of the yearly Christmas cookies for her family.
She is survived by two sons; George (Jeanie) Pflugrad of Pennsylvania, Kenneth (Linda) Pflugrad of Kenosha; two grandchildren, Ami (Barry) Jackisch of Indiana, Michael (Giselle) Pflugrad of North Carolina and one great grandson, Thomas Jackisch. She is further survived by one sister Betty Solum, sisters-in-law, Doris Kazell and Dorothy Scheckler, all of Kenosha, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 5, 2018 at 11:00AM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church. (5038 19th Avenue) Visitation with the family will take place on Friday at the church from 10:00AM until the time of services. Private burial will take place at Greenridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the church would be appreciated.
