Helen I. Grinder, 94, a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Manor Care in Kenosha.
Born on Dec. 27, 1918, in Kenosha she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mattie (Davison) Johnson. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha. In 1935 she married Silas Grinder in Kenosha. He would precede her in death in 1975. She was a proud homemaker in her own home. Sunday afternoons were family dinner and she would make very nice meals for the entire family. She liked to do needlework and crafts and was known for her sock monkeys and her hand crafted Christmas ornaments. She loved walking in the woods and reading. She was a member of Northport Community Baptist Church. Family was important to her and she loved them very much. She will be remembered as funny, fun-loving and caring.
She is survived by two sons, Rolland Rock Grinder of Cleveland OH, David (Michelle) Grinder of Hollandale WI, Betty Reagan of Cleveland OH, seven grandchildren Joe, Roxanne, Theresa, Nadine, Austin, Chad, and Alexandria, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother Earl and sisters Ella, Margaret, Ethel, and Jessie.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Northport Community Baptist Church in Kenosha. (4609-38th Avenue) Visitation with the family will be on Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
