Harry K. McKenzie (1936-2015)

Harry K. McKenzie, age 79 a resident of Waukegan IL died Saturday, September 19^th 2015, at Wheaton Franciscan in Racine.

Harry was born on January 15^th, 1936 in Arkansas to Henry McKenzie and Zonia Marshall. He was educated in the schools of Chicago and went on after high school to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business. In June of 1982, he was married to Jill Casey in Las Vegas. They lived together in Waukegan IL for 37 years. Harry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed by the U.S. Department of Defense for over 20 years. He was a lover of music of all kinds. He had such a charismatic personality that could make someone laugh and cry at the same time. People were drawn to his charming nature and witty banter. He will truly be missed.

Harry is survived by his wife Jill, and by his children: Mark McKenzie, Harry McKenzie Jr., Stanley Williams, Jerry McKenzie, Danielle (Kenny Ulrich) McKenzie and Shirley Denise McKenzie. He is further survived by his sister Eddie Johnson and by his many, many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Harry in death were his parents and three of his daughters.

Services will be held on Monday September 28^th 2015 at 1:00PM at Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family is requests that donations be made out to WVH – Union Grove (General Activities) which is the Activities Department at the Union Grove Veteran’s Home where Harry enjoyed his time playing bingo or visiting in the deli with many wonderful volunteers.
