Harry James “Jim” Morrill, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Hospice Alliance in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Jim, also known as Ace, was born in Pittsburgh to Walter and Hazel Morrill. He moved to Wisconsin at 2 years old where he lived the rest of his life. Growing up in Shorewood, then living in Bay View for many years, he moved to Caledonia in 1999 where he lived out the rest of his days.
Jim knew from an early age that he wanted to be a photographer and spent his career as a cinematographer and then photographer. He had a long career with the Milwaukee Public Schools and then had his own business that largely focused on architectural photography. He was also a photographer for the Great Circus Parade. He loved traveling around the country with his wife Patricia and taking beautiful nature and landscape photos.
In addition, Jim spent several years shooting game film for the Milwaukee Bucks as well as shooting footage for the Channel 6 News. Jim also served in the Army National Guard.
Jim was active in his community. He served on the Caledonia Planning Commission as well as on the Board of Trustees at his Church. Jim worked with his rescue dog, Buddy, to get certified as a pet therapy dog and visited nursing homes, libraries, universities and healthcare facilities.
Jim was an avid boater for his entire life, owning boats since the age of 18 until selling his last boat at the age of 79. He was a lifetime member of the South Shore Yacht Club where he spent a significant amount of time over the years, including getting married there.
A lover of bourbon, dogs, jazz, the Packers and the Brewers Jim leaves behind a legacy of fond memories and wisdom for those that knew him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Patricia Williams Morrill. His son Kent (Aimee) Morrill and four grandsons Isaac, Noah (Rachel), Levi (Avery) and Gideon as well as his three great-granddaughters Caroline, Wesley and Elise. He is further survived by his stepson Jeremy (Olga) Gross and stepdaughter Kelly Williams (Greg) and his three step-grandchildren Leonardo and Angelica Gross and Connor Olson.
Services for Jim will be held privately.
