Gerhard Kubart, age 86 a resident of Kenosha died Thursday May 6, 2010 at his home.
Born in Kenosha on April 2nd 1924 he was the son of the late August and Bertha (Wholgemuth) Kubart.
He attended Friedens Lutheran School and Mary D. Bradford, graduating in 1943.
He served in the US Army from February 22 1943 until January 26th 1946. He was a decorated veteran, earned many medals, and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge.
In January of 1943 he married Virginia P. Boehme in Mississippi.
When he returned from overseas he worked briefly at Simmons before he owned and operated the Cities Service Station at 56th Street and Sheridan Road with his brother in law Melvin. He joined the Sheriffs Dept. in 1958 and retired as a Sergeant in 1982.
He was a 50 year member of Bethany Lutheran Church, was very active as an Elder of the church and an usher.
He is survived by two sons; Mark of Kenosha and Jon of Sturtevant; one daughter Gerrie Lyn (Dale) Faber of Racine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1992, and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday may 10th 2010 at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Visitation will take place on Monday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to either Hospice Alliance or the church would be appreciated.
