George Gaines (1943-2016)

George Gaines, age 73, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday April 21^st 2016 at Azalea Place in Kenosha.

George was born February 22^nd, 1943 in Birmingham Alabama to Elijah and Esther (Gaston) Gaines. He was one of six children.

After high school, George attended seminary school, but the Viet Nam war and his honorable service in the United States Army put an end to that plan. He served in South East Asia until his health necessitated a discharge. After the military George attended both Malcolm X College and Chicago State University where he studied English literature.

George is survived by his two daughters Christine Gaines and Esther Marie and by his sister Margaret McDonald. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Delores (William, deceased) Gaines and he will be missed by his many loving nieces and nephews who appreciated having an “Uncle George”.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Florence Harris and his brothers Elijah Gaines, William Gaines and Franklin Gaines.

Homegoing services will be held on Saturday April 30^th, 2016 at 1:00PM at Kemper Center’s Founders Hall. (6501-3^rd Ave.Kenosha) Visitation with the family will take place from 12:00 noon until the time of services.

Interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at a later date.
