George A. Geniesse

George A. Geniesse, age 85 a resident of Kenosha died Monday March 25, 2024, at his residence. George was born in Marinette, WI the son of George and Dorothy (Vavrunek) Geniesse on February 1st, 1939.

George graduated after attending twelve years at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Marinette. He enlisted in the US Marines in 1957 and served until 1959.  On August 4th, 1962, he married the love of his life Kathy (Coddington) Geniesse. He was employed by OMC Johnson and worked there until his retirement in the late 1990’s. George was a member of Great Lakes Church.

After his retirement George went on to work for the Kenosha County Street Dept, a job he fully enjoyed and loved. George enjoyed his Packers; he was in his chair every Sunday rooting them on! He was a faithful fan! George also enjoyed his daily phone calls with his brother, Dickie.   He was an industrious man who especially loved to help his family with projects from gardening to woodworking projects, building sheds, putting up fences, hanging Christmas decorations, working on your car, really anything that needed to be done!  He will be so deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of having known him.

George is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons, Tim (Karla) Geniesse,  Michael (Ronda) Geniesse, and daughters Lizabeth (Steven) Anderson,  Terri (Dale) Lang, his 5 grandchildren; Kristina, Jennifer and Jessica Geniesse,  Samantha (James) Kutz, and Jamie (James) Benefiel and 5 great-grandchildren; Nellie, Delanie, Wesson,  Savannah and Anderson  He is also survived by  2 brothers;  Richard (Sherry) Geniesse , John Geniesse,  and 1 sister Donna (Robert) Kohlman.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Rowland and sister, Kathleen.

A memorial service will be held on Monday April 1st, 2024, at 12:00 noon at Lord of Life Lutheran Church 5601-Washington Road, on corner of HWY 142 and Green Bay Road) in Kenosha.  Visitation with the family will be on Monday at the church from 10:30AM until the time of services.  Boppy, as he was known by his grandchildren, was not a “suit and tie” kind of guy, therefore casual attire is totally fine.

  • As Chaplain for the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 21 in Kenosha Wisconsin, i’d like to say thank you for your service and God bless you, your family and your friends. You’re all in my prayers. Just remember he was a gift from God and knowing him was even a bigger gift. 🙏🏻🫡
