Gene C. “Spike” Hodler Jr., age 57, a resident of Salem, passed away on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at Aurora Hospital and Medical Center in Kenosha.
Gene was born on July 14th, 1959 in Waukegan, Illinois to Gene and Janet (Evans) Hodler Sr. For several years, the family owned and operated Western Auto Hardware in Rhode Island, but moved back to the Midwest to be close to family.
He graduated from Zion Benton Township High School and attended technical school. Gene was employed by Snap-On Tools and also as a truck driver at Dan Ludesky Trucking and was a member of Teamsters Local 301.
Gene is survived by his brother Eric (Deonna) Hodler of Beach Park, Illinois and by his father Gene Hodler Sr. He is further survived by his nieces Samantha (Bobby) Brown and Brandi (Matthew) Hodler and by his nephews, Dallas Dean Hodler Jr. and Eric Hodler Jr.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother Janet in February of 2016 and by his brother Dallas Dean Hodler, Sr.
