Frederick C. “Fuzzy” Oertel, age 84, died Saturday January 11th 2014
at Kindred North Nursing Home in Kenosha.
He was born April 4, 1929 in Racine to the late Frederick and Vlasta (Pluhar) Oertel, and served his country in the United States Army. On December 1, 1951in Racine, he married Ruth Wohlust. In their earlier years many people loved to watch he and his wife Ruth “cut a rug” with their Jitterbug skills.
Fuzzy made his living as a salesman and after his retirement worked for Metro Milwaukee Auto Auction as a driver. He was very involved in Trinity Lutheran Church including having had the honor of serving as an usher for well over 40 years. Fuzzy was associated with, and enjoyed the company of the Trinity Troopers, and he served in countless other capacities during his long association with Trinity Lutheran Church. Fuzzy also enjoyed cheering on the Packers.
Fuzzy is survived by his two children; Jeff (Diane) Oertel of St. Paul MN and Noelle “VJ” Oertel of Racine. He is also survived by his son-in-law David Schoolcraft and grandson Joshua Schoolcraft. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth on September 9th, 2013 and by his daughter Michele Schoolcraft. He was additionally preceded in death by his three sisters, Evelyn, Virginia and Georgene.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 17, 2014 at 11:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Racine. (2065-Geneva Street) Visitation with the family will be on Friday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of services. Burial will take place on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at 11:00AM at Southern WI Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Noelle to defer funeral expenses would be appreciated.
