Frank J. Wendt, age 91 a resident of Kenosha, died Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Grande Prairie Nursing and Rehab in Pleasant Prairie.
Born on January 11, 1924 in Lake Forest IL, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Bridget (Redican) Wendt. He moved to Kenosha when he was six months old. He attended the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Bradford High School in 1941. He entered UW-Kenosha in 1941 and UW-Madison in 1942. He then entered the Navy and served from May-September of 1943 at Great Lakes NTS. Frank went back to UW-Madison in 1945 and graduated in 1949 with a bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked in research labs and had 5 patents in building products with US Gypsum Co and also worked in research at Modine Manufacturing. After retirement he worked for 15 years as safety director for construction firms, mostly for Camosy Inc.
On September 16, 1961 he married Marilyn J. Andreoli at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Frank was a long time handball player (40 years at KYF). He was also a long time blood donor of 140 donations.
Frank is survived by two sons Michael D. (Barbara) Wendt of Vernon Hills IL and Daniel J. (Kathryn) Wendt of Kenosha. He is also survived by four grandchildren Quinn, Eric, Veronica and Olivia.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Charles, and sisters Mary Wendt and Jane Eisenhauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday September 2nd 2015 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha. Visitation with the family will take place on Wednesday in DeSimone Hall below the church from 10:00AM until the time of mass. Burial will take place at a later date.
