Elvie V. Sargent, age 79, of Salem Lakes formerly of Fairfield, CT passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. Elvie was born on October 11, 1938 in Hartford, CT to Axel Ivar Esias and Ellen Maria (Anderson) Trolle and she graduated from Bassick High School in 1956 in Bridgeport, CT. After high school, Elvie went to work as a Telephone Operator at Bell Telephone. She married Lawrence W. Sargent in Bridgeport, CT on May 7, 1960. Elvie stopped working and chose to raise and become active in her families lives. For many years she was a Girl Scout leader at the Housatonic Girl Scout Council. She was a member of the Covenant Church of Easton and was active in the Covenant Women’s group, the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Elvie enjoyed many different crafts including: crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing. Her greatest joy was the time she spent being with her family.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, Lawrence on July 25, 2009 and her parents.
Elvie is survived by, five children, Susan Barta of Kenosha, Linda (Bryan) Sardonell of Salem Lakes, Judi Schettler (Erin Smeltzer) of PA, Michael (Patricia) Sargent of WA and Diane Sargent (Jeff Tabak) of CT; 18 grandchildren, Elric, Christopher, Sarah, Paul, Eric, Peter, Amanda, Austin, Margaret, Victoria, Timothy, Samantha, Claudia, Menthie, Ashleigh, Justin, Katie and Abbie; three great grandchildren, Anthony, Lilly and Eloise as well as cousins and friends.
A memorial service for Elvie will be held in Connecticut at a later date.
