Elliott LeRoy Engberg

Elliott L. Engberg, age 86, of Kenosha, WI and Sun City, AZ died at home surrounded by his family on May 24th, 2025.


Elliott LeRoy Engberg was born in Chicago, IL on March 7, 1939 by his parents, Linnea and Rev. Emmer Engberg.


On May 15, 1965 Elliott married Carol Holem in Ventnor City, New Jersey after returning from a year of study in Germany. Elliott worked for Kenosha Unified Schools as a counselor at Bullen Jr. High School when it opened in 1969 and later at Tremper High School until retirement in 1997. Since retiring he has spent 6 months of each year in Sun City, Arizona.


Elliott graduated from St. Peter High School. Soon after he entered the US Army, assigned to Metz, France. Returning home he completed 4 years at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota majoring in German. His first teaching experience was at East High School in Aurora, Illinois and later at Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Minnesota teaching German and Social Studies. In 1968 he received a Masters in School Counseling from Winona State College in Winona, Minnesota.


Elliott was active at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha as a council member, choir member for 32 years, various committees, Sunday school teacher and volunteer grounds keeper after retirement. He was co-president of the Retired Kenosha Teacher’s Association, a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a Kenosha Kinship member. In Sun City Elliott was a member of the stained-glass club and the South Golf League. He was also the condo association president and treasurer.


Interests include family activities, golfing, bowling, fishing and stained-glass craft work.


Elliott is survived by his wife, Carol, son John (Connie) and grandsons Justin, Joshua and Joel. Preceding in death by his son, Scott and brothers Emerson and Gerald. Elliott will be missed by his family and his many friends.


Services for Elliott will be held at 2pm on Sunday June 1st, 2025 at St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church (8670 37th ave, Kenosha Wisconsin). Visitation with the family will be held from 1pm until the time of service. Please make memorials to “Cure HHT” or St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church.


A private burial will take place on Monday June 2nd, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park.
