Elena “Lena” S. Baldasar, age 87 a resident of Kenosha passed away peacefully while surrounded by loving family and friends on Wednesday March 10 2010 at Grand Prairie Health and Rehab.
Born on May 7th 1922 in Cotronei Italy, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Rosa (Morrone) Umbriaco.
She married Thomas L. Baldasar. He would precede her in death in 1974. In 1976 she would marry Nello Buratti. He died in 1986.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She loved to cook, sew and knit. Anything she chose to involve herself with was done immaculately. She was loved by many.
She is survived by one stepson; Nello (Terry) Buratti of Kenosha; two stepdaughters Mary Jo (Gene) Breiling of Kenosha; Janice (Tony) Molrgando of Lombard IL; a sister Pia (Teodosio) DeBonis of Italy; a sister-in-law Mary Umbriaco of Chicago, IL and step grandchildren. She is further survived by the following nieces and nephews; Anna (Mike) Downey; Rosalba (Dennis) O’Brien; Donald (Mary) Umbriaco; Michele (Mike) Prokopek; great nieces and nephews Donya O’Brien; Michael Downey II; Dennis (Catherine) O’Brien; Frank Umbriaco; Kate Umbriaco; Nicole Emery Elizabeth Nelson; Michael Nelson and many great-great nieces and nephews who will miss her very much.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her brother Franco Umbriaco, her sister Sara Ferrero a stepson Thomas Baldasar and a niece Rosanna (Umbriaco) Nelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 15th 2010 at 11:00AM at St. James Catholic Church in Kenosha. (5804-Sheridan Road) Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 10:30 until time of the mass. Entombment of the cremated remains will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to either the Heart Association or to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.
Lena had many close friends who all loved her very much. A special thank you to Alice Bobusch, a special friend and neighbor of Lena, who would often look out for her well being.
