Edna Marie Hileman

Edna Marie Hileman, age 89, of Kenosha, passed away on September 28^th, 2024. She was born on October 27^th, 1934, to the late James and Retha (Beaver) Hileman in West Virginia.

Shortly after her High School graduation, the family moved to Kenosha County because her father didn’t want his sons to follow in his footsteps working in the coal mines. Father purchased land in Kenosha County and began to build the Family Homestead while the family lived in an Army Trailer.

Edna worked for many years as a bookkeeper for A&P Grocery Store. She then became a bookkeeper at Kenosha Water Utility. At 46 she earned a bachelor’s degree from Carthage College majoring in accounting. She took an early medical retirement from Kenosha Water Utility.

She was a VERY independent woman. Continuing to cut her grass and remove snow from her property up to 2 years ago. She helped build several garages, fences and sided her porch. She recently purchased an ATV so she could ride on her property in Elcho, WI.

She continued to live in the family home until her passing.

She is survived by her brother Bill Hileman and his wife Neva, brother-in-law Joel “Skip” Freitag, many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers Archie, James Jr., Robert and 2 brothers in infancy, sisters Dorothy Morgan, Anna Raash and Ruby Freitag.

Services for Edna will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (5601 Washington Road) in Kenosha, WI, on Monday, October 7^th, 2024, at 11 A.M. A visitation will take place at church from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery will follow the services.
