Edith Marie Edwards (Jurs) age 91, passed away on December 7th, 2025, at Grand Prairie Nursing Home. She was born on December 14th, 1933, to the late William Jurs and Hazel (Wilson) Jurs. On September 1st, 1951, she married Donald Edwards at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Bristol. The two were faithfully married until Donald’s passing on November 12th, 1984. She was later remarried to Charles Techert on August 6th, 1988, who later passed away.
Edith lived a very exciting adolescence. She was a very skilled bowler competing in many competitions and was noted numerous times in many newspapers. She traveled the country and was competing against many young men that were several years older than her. She loved telling stories about her days on the road and competing across the country. More notably she was rated as one of the nation’s potential all-time greats among women’s bowling. In 1949 she was crowned champion in the American Junior Bowling Congress Tournament in the 604 series at only 15 years old.
She is survived by her loving children: Dennis (Beverly) Edwards, Darryl (Karen) Edwards and Jim Edwards, grandchildren: Matthew Edwards, Deanna (Dan) Milligan, Donald Edwards and Jason (Lindsay) Edwards, numerous great grandchildren and a daughter in law: Judi Edwards. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son: Michael Edwards, sisters: Phyllis and Evelyn and grandchildren: Mikey and Bryan.
Edith will be laid to rest on Friday, December 12th at 1 P.M. at South Bristol Cemetery in Bristol, WI.
