David L. Bittner, age 82 a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday August 30, 2017 at his residence.
David was born January 13, 1935 in Argo Fay Illinois to George and Helen (Williams) Bittner. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1959. On August 25, 1956, he married M.Barbara Simmons at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was employed by Eaton Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as a cost accountant supervisor. After his retirement, he owned and operated Bittner’s Accounting and Tax Service.
David loved to garden and was especially proud of his beautiful back yard. He also enjoyed cribbage and taking trips to the casinos. He loved crazy Christmas games at holiday time and was known for his signature drink, a Southern Comfort Old Fashioned Sour with olives. David was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Bittner of Kenosha with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage. David is further survived by his son Ron Bittner of Janesville and his daughters Linda (Kevin) Nelson of Georgia and Mary Beth Bittner of Kenosha as well as his six grandchildren; Melissa (Jonathon) Gailey, Cynthia (Josh) Mobley, Shelley (Weston) Hollor, Bryan Nelson, Cecilia Bittner and David Bittner and his six great grandchildren; Niko, Hannah, Madison, McKenzie, James and Evelyn. He will be dearly missed by his faithful dog Mya.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George and his sister Delores.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday September 2, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kenosha. (corner of 39th Avenue and 73rd Street) Visitation with the family will be on Saturday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of mass. Burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials to either Kenosha Achievement Center or to Kenosha Special Olympics would be appreciated.
