David was one of the last of the all-around nice guys. I will never forget his genuine kindness, infectious laugh and sense of humor, especially during our sailing adventures (and misadventures) in the southern latitudes.
George Swade says:
Leslie, I’m very sorry for your loss. David seems like a really nice man. I know it’s been something you’ve been dealing with for a few years but now it’s a reality of his being gone . I understand in many ways And I’m happy to help you in anyway I can, God be with you
Tim Weber says:
David, I recall the day and place we first met like it was yesterday. We had a lot of great adventures and my biggest regret is that we missed out on so many others! We were never short for making plans for the next BIG ONE. If only half of those plans had come to fruition we could have written a best seller. Be sure to say “Hello” to Earl for me when you see him. Two Cardinals fans forever!
Paula Battiato says:
Leslie, Jonathan, Michael I am so sorry for your loss. David was a good and kind neighbor for years. I remember gazing at the Harvest moon in awe with him on our front deck, he really did appreciate all nature had to offer.
Julie says:
I have so many fond memories of Uncle David. He was always kind and interested in us kids. I have memories of him and my dad goofing around at summer family parties. I will always remember most vividly the weekend that he and Leslie took all 4 of us kids sailing on Lake Michigan, eating deep dish pizza, and admiring Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Oak Park. Leslie, Michael and Jonathan, my heart is with you. See you soon.
Susan Tonon says:
Leslie, Michael, Jonathan – wishing you peace and love, and warm memories of the the wonderful times you shared with David. Our weak words carry no special weight, but those memories will keep David alive in your hearts.

Elizabeth Wolfe says:
Leslie, When I first met David, through you, so long ago in Chicago, I knew you two were destined to be together for a long and happy life. I’m so glad to know that is how it happened.
At this sad time, my heart hurts for you and your young adult sons. If I can do anything for you, please don’t hesitate to ask. Love to you.
Ruth Folkerts says:
My prayers are with all who mourn the absence of David, especially Leslie, Jonathan and Michael. He was a great brother-in-law when his brother, Harold, and I were married. He was a fun-loving, warm-hearted, rather brilliant guy with a heart of gold for his siblings and family. God bless all who knew and loved him.
