CheFun Egly, 58, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away Saturday, August 8 at Highland Park Hospital after a yearlong battle with Stage 4 Nonsmoker’s Lung Cancer.
Born in Hong Kong on May 24, 1957, she was the daughter of Fong ShuSum and Lee MeeLuen. She attended school in Hong Kong through high school and her first two years of college. She then continued her studies at Indiana State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics. She met her husband Doug Egly there, and they were married May 10, 1981.
After several moves, they settled in Pleasant Prairie in 1989. CheFun worked for Abbott Laboratories, first as a consultant starting in 1988 and later as an employee at Abbott in 1990. She continued working at Abbott throughout her professional career.
CheFun’s interests were primarily focused on traveling, spending time with her family, watching her children play club soccer, and enjoying different kinds of foods. Her love of her family in Kenosha, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Toronto was everlasting. Those who had the chance to know her appreciated her for her beautiful soul and wonderful smile, with a personality which filled every room she walked into with warmth. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
