Cecilia Saavedra was born May 10, 1942, passing into the arms of the Lord on March 22nd 2025. She is preceded in death by her sisters Maria del Rosario, Martha, Maria de Lourdes, Maria Del Carmen, Raúl, her mother Maria del Pilar, and father José Refugio. She is survived by her husband Amando, her daughter Claudia Amistad (Joseph), her sons César and Luis, and grandson Connor.
Born in Mexico, she studied to be an educator for a few years before following her father to the United States in her teen years to work and live in Lake Forest and Waukegan, Illinois. Her work experiences included Lake Forest College in the food industry, and then in manufacturing at Cherry Electric, National Press, and Crown Industries.
In Mexico she worked at Sterling and Fram Filters while she studied to be a teacher.
While she worked full time she also shared a home and family with her husband Amando of 56 years, having three children who are now grown and have their own families.
Some of her favorite pastimes included horticulture and gardening, and crafting and decorating the garden with whimsical signs. She had great intuition for everything she endeavored to do.
She has been a blessing for her family growing up with four sisters and a brother, for our family guiding us in wisdom, and to everyone whose lives she has touched. The Lord has called her to be next to him because he saw she gave all she could.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 25th at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church (7117 14th ave, Kenosha). Visitation with the family will be held from 10am until the time of mass.
