Carol Marie (Rintamaki) Hill, age 81, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2024, following a long illness. She was born January 3, 1943, in Ashland, WI, to the late Reino & Elsie (Plosila) Rintamaki.
Carol grew up in Montreal, WI, and graduated from Hurley High School in Hurley, WI. On November 24, 1962, she married Walter Hill at Trinty Lutheran Church in Ironwood, MI. Together, they moved to Milwaukee, WI, and then to Kenosha, WI, where they resided and retired.
Carol worked in sales at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park and All Saints Cemetery for many years. Her passion was to travel and experience different areas of the United States, and she especially enjoyed annual getaways to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Carol loved spending time with family and friends at their lake property near Stevens Point, WI, where she enjoyed reminiscing by the campfire, listening to music, and hearing the cooing sounds of loons calling on the water. She had a passion for helping others plan travel experiences, and it gave her great pleasure to see others enjoying vacation time and to hear about their travels. Carol’s hobbies included bowling, knitting, and sewing. For several years she volunteered her time and talent with the VITA Income Tax program. Carol’s humble generosity blessed many in countless ways; she was one who always found a way to help those she loved.
Carol is dearly missed by Walter, her husband of 61 years, daughter Wendy Breigenzer, and grandsons Jeremi Breigenzer and Marcus Ramirez, all of Kenosha. She is also survived by brothers Glen (Chris) Rintamaki of Belgrade, Montana, Gerald (Debbie) Rintamaki of Burlington, WI, and Richard Rintamaki of Kenosha; and sisters Susan (Lawrence) Mielke and Shirley Schmidt of Kenosha, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, Gary; her parents; siblings William, John, and Diane, as well as other extended family members.
Carol’s life will be celebrated in a private service. Memorials to Kenosha Hospice Alliance are appreciated.
