Carl McGibany, age 89, a resident of Kenosha, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at his home.
Born on November 30th 1920 in Sarento IL, he was the son of the late Roy D. and Etta (Fenton) McGibany.
He served in US Army from Jan. 20th 1942 until Sept. 30th 1945. He was awarded the American Theater of Operations Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the European African and Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, a Purple Heart and Five bronze Stars.
On February 8th 19467 he married Alyce Alex in Chicago IL. She would precede him in death on March 27th 2006.
He was employed by the City of Kenosha Sanitation Dept. for 16 years. Previously he was employed by Milk Producers. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by three sons’ Alex McGibany of Kenosha, Jim (Carol) McGibany of Menomonee Falls WI, Dan McGibany of Chicago IL , three grandchildren Sloan, Brandan, Sean, and one great grandchild Cody. He is further survived by one sister Opal (Joe) Ruhle of Kenosha, and one sister in law Rosalie McGibany.
He was preceded in death by his parent, his wife and one brother Wayne.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 26th 2010 at 10:00AM at First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha. (1803-83rd Street) Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday at the church from 4:00PM until 6:00PM and again on Monday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of services. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove IL.
