It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara J. Knight-Brown, age 68, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center after a well fought battle with cancer.
Born on June 8, 1956, in Kenosha, WI, Barb spent her life in the town she always called home. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and then attended Gateway Technical College before beginning an array of occupations over the years. As a young adult, Barb worked at St. Catherine’s Hospital. She then worked at Snap-On before opening her home as an in-home childcare provider for many years. Barb earned an associate degree as a Medical Assistant and returned to the medical field working for Dr. Dorothy Conzelman until Dr. Conzelman’s retirement, while also maintaining a second job at Target. She then worked at Kenosha Asthma and Allergy Clinic alongside working at Meijer. She most recently worked at Prairie Side Ace Hardware and continued working until shortly before her passing.
Barb was a dedicated mother whose tenacity and compassion were always evident to others. She was a great friend to people from various backgrounds and always had a smile and a shoulder to lean on. She was involved in many organizations and groups over the years; including Bob’s guitar group, St. Mark’s home and school board, St Mark’s church choir, coaching youth soccer, and was a Parishioner at St. Anne’s Church. She enjoyed watching game shows, spending time at Blackhawk Campground, and enjoying time with friends.
Barb will be dearly missed by her children, Brandon (Chrissy) Knight, Meghan (Michael) Bastianelli; five grandchildren, Gavin, Layla, Liam, Lucas, and Logan; best friend, Bill Marshall; many nephews and especially niece Lisa Lee; her late husband’s family in England; and her cat Ember.
Barb is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years Martin Brown; parents Robert and Grace (Lindemann) Knight; sisters Roberta Odegaard & Karen Gallion; in-laws Daniel Odegaard, Clint Gallion, and Alan Smart.
A special thanks to the staff at Aurora Medical Center-Kenosha for their care and assistance to the family.
A Memorial Mass for Barbara will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (9901 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie). Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.

To Barb’s children, Brandon and Meghan, and their spouses and children my sincere sympathy at your Mom’s passing.
I worked with Barb at Dr Conzelman’s Pediatric office for many years and always enjoyed her smile and her willingness to be there for others.
She fought the good fight when she knew her life would be shortened from her cancer and she is now with her loved ones in Heaven. I know she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May the Lord be with her family at this difficult time.
