Andrew Trent Taylor of Kenosha, Wisconsin, formerly of Wheeling, Illinois and Northfield, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2022. He was born May 19, 1957 and grew up in Northfield. He was the son of Evarts B. and Elva S. Taylor. Andrew was preceded in death by his son, Ross Gavin Taylor (1991-2017). He was survived by his son, Trent Taylor, of Tryon, North Carolina. He is also survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Taylor, Glenview, Illinois; Terri Schade, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Norma Taylor, Kenosha; and his brother Evarts (Tim) Taylor III of Cleveland, Ohio; and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Andrew graduated from New Trier West High School in Northfield, Illinois in 1975 where he was a standout football player and a passionate skier. He married his high school sweetheart, Melinda Deuster (nee Dorner), and they shared two beautiful sons.
Andy had an interesting career: after attending the University of No. Colorado he became a member of the Aspen Ski Patrol for a short time, and later the head chef at The Refectory restaurant in Northbrook. For 15 years he worked for First Options of Chicago, 10 years in logistics at Hassett Air Express and a number of years at The Home Depot.
He moved to Kenosha three years ago and loved his downtown apartment where he grew close with his neighbors and enjoyed the beachside/resort feel of the city. He also lived just a few blocks from Norma who he often met for meals and walks through town. Sibling Weekends were held annually, and Terri, Tim (Evarts), and Elizabeth joined Andy and Norma. This photo of him on the beach was taken during one of the weekends. He will be remembered for his kindness, soft-spokenness, helpful disposition and his dry wit.
There will be a Memorial Service and Internment at Winnetka Congregational Church at 3:00 pm on June 25th.

Andy was a great, friendly and witty guy who seemed delighted when a bit of mischief would occur inside or outside of our grade school classes at St. Philip the Apostle in Northfield. Our class size seemed to shrink there from grades 1-8 (I think we were down to 12 students in our 8th grade class) and we had to play both defense and offense on our 8th grade football team (which went 2 and 5, despite Andy’s considerable fullback skills)! A bunch of us would gather & ride bikes in the summer to the Northfield Bowl (for burgers & fries with mustard), the local junkyard with old cars piled high, the Dairy Queen (a long ride!), each others houses (for cookies and watching “Three Stooges” re-runs until we fell over on the carpet from laughter) and forts we’d create out of rickety old farm shacks hidden in high grass fields, huge old cement pieces discarded by the little creek behind Bess Hardware and “borrowed” boards we’d find around construction sites or the neighborhood. He was a good, cheerful and dedicated friend to all of us in those now far away grade-school days and he will be sorely missed! Our thoughts and prayers go out to Andy’s family; we know he’s soaring happily up in the sky now, above the clouds, and smiling with sweet memories of all of those he touched over the years.
