Alvin L. Troestler, age 82, formerly of Racine, late of Kenosha, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Beverly Health Care in Kenosha.
Born on November 12, 1923 in Racine, he was the son of the late Alvin L. and Rose (Callinan) Troestler Sr.
He was educated in the schools of Racine. He served in the US Army Search and Rescue Unit from 1942-1946.
On November 14, 1942, he married Marjorie Bartels. She preceded him in death on April 29, 1982. He would then marry Ruth Williamson on December 17, 1983. She also preceded him in death on April 15, 1995.
For many years he was a custom drapery installer having been employed by Porters of Racine, The Studio, and Sears and Roebuck.
He was a founding member of Faith Community Church in Racine. He was an avid reader, loved softball bowling and golf.
He is survived by two sons; Michael (Sharon) Troestler of Oak Creek, James (Linda) Troestler of Racine; two daughters, Marilyn (James) Gedemer of Racine, Sharon “Shari” Troestler of Racine, eight grandchildren; Jennifer, Scott, Matthew, Adam, Terri, Nicole, Spencer, Alexander; seven great grandchildren, Aaron, Tony, Ariel, Josie, Alaina, Juliana, Jaden, one brother; David (Patricia) Troestler of Racine, four sisters; Margarite Quam of Hayward, Josephine Niesen of Racine, Rosemary (Bill) Hugasian of San Francisco, Valerie Roedema of Racine, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and one brother William.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday July 13, 2006 at 11:00AM at the Westlawn Cemetery Chapel in Racine. (9000-Washington Avenue) Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Chapel from 10:30AM until the time of service.
