Alfred E. Mahaffy, 77, died in Kenosha on January 7, 2005. He was born in Racine on October 22, 1927 to the late Alfred S. Mahaffy and Clara (Hanamann).
He was educated in Racine schools and, at the time, was the youngest Police Officer to join the Racine Police force in 1948. On August 21, 1948 he married Marion Tarkington in Racine. Alfred retired in 1982, after 35 years of service in the Police force, and started work as a security officer at the Racine Airport, and has served for many years as a volunteer in the Senior lunch program and the Meals on Wheels program in Racine.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife Marion, his 2 daughters: Michel (Thomas Paul) Sevick and Rene’e Aker, both of Kenosha; grandchildren; Heath (Zoe) Mahaffy, Crystal Aker, Michael Sevick, and Danielle Sevick all of Kenosha, great grandchildren Reid Mahaffy and Nolan Reuter; sister-in-law Beatrice Mahaffy, and many other loving family and friends. Al loved his daily rendezvous with his Schipperke’s.
Funeral services for Alfred E. Mahaffy will be held on Wednesday January 12, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church ? Elmwood Plaza. Visitation with the family will be on January 12, 2005 at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Red Cross would be appreciated to be utilized for the Tsunami victims.
