Florence “Tootie” Koderca

Florence “Tootie” (nee: Casper) Koderca, 90, of Kenosha, Wisconsin quietly passed away on an early Thursday morning August 25, 2022.  Florence was born on April 30, 1932 and was the daughter of Henry and Marie Casper who preceded her in death.  Florence was a past member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and attended St. Rita’s grade school and graduated from William Horlick High School.  On July 12, 1952 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Frank Paul Koderca, who also preceded her in death.  

She will be forever remembered and never forgotten as a devoted, kind and giving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who gave so much so her family would never go without.  Her door was always open to all her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors and always had food and homemade bakery on the table.  Her loss is incomparable, as she will be greatly missed leaving a huge void in all our lives.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Frank (Debra) Koderca, Kathleen Irish, Daniel Koderca Sr., and Sandra Duffin all of Kenosha. Grandchildren Ryan Irish, Daniel Jr. and Christopher Koderca, Christine and Kimberly Cantrell and Kevin Koderca.  Great grandchildren, Karlie, Austyn, Faith, Skyler, Trent, and Elliot. Great great grandchildren Ashtyn and Ariel.  

She is further survived by four loving sisters Betty (Bernie) Brickner, Marionette, Wisconsin, Marilyn (James) Sweigert of Bonita Springs, Florida, Carol Heitzman of Hemit, California, and Genevieve (Art) of Racine, Wisconsin.  Close friends May Yee, Gay Belliveau Koenemann, Patricia Matusek Spitzer, and Cindy Soronen Jorgensen.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Harold Casper.

As a young women she started working for the Oriental Inn.  Her many years there produced countless lifelong friendships especially with May and Bob Yee and became a second mom to their five children.  For years Florence, the Yee’s, and close friends, who have gone before her, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, and other casinos.  She loved going up north spending time with family and friends and considered these her roots. She adored her parents and siblings and talked of her love and happiness in growing up in the county on north Douglas Road Highway 42.

Interment and graveside services will be private with masses being said in her memory.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Janet Chua for her kindness and care and Casey Family Options for their compassion and help during this difficult

time.

      Thank you dear cousins. Yes grandma Casper did love “visiting” with mom and where ever she pointed they would go…the two of them. One of the last thing she ever said to me was, “I want to go Home”. I hope, pray, and beseech Jesus that grandma was waiting for her loving daughter at the head of the pack. She wanted to see her mom. Days before going to hospice she talked of this. Right behind grandma will be grandpa, Harold and my dad. Love to you both. Kathy

    My greatest memories was every Wednesday when U came to take Nana shopping & all the goodies. My other greatest memory was ur Love for babies, especially my brother’s little baby boy. U & Nana made it part of ur Wednesday stopping to see Randy’s little baby. U were so good to David also💖 Love U Aunt Tootie 💖

    I am so sad that my sister, Tootie, has passed. I realize she is in a wonderful place now and before long we four sisters will join her, but the loss is great. We had such a happy childhood and remembering those days will bring me some comfort. The last I talked to her was in May and she told me she was looking forward to seeing our dear parents and brothers. I am thankful she was blessed with such loving children.     Sorry for your loss your mom was my mom best friend. May always said they were the best workers she ever had. They would talk for hours on the phone. I lost my mom Irene in 2014 now they can be together as friends in heaven.

      Lori how nice to hear from you. Oh she talked about Irene, you and Dean all the time. Those two were very close and your mom helped my parents with caring for my aunt Mary. My moms final days were spent at Hospice House just like your moms. So many years now have passed, I always loved your mom. Thank you again.

    Our family sends our condolences to the Koderca family. Although I never met Tootie, I’ve gotten to know her through Dan and the kind person he is, obviously influenced by Mom.

      Thank you Dean. Dan is indeed a good guy. He was certainly a momma’s boy. He called her “mambo”, and I called her “mumsy”. All of us adored her and I will miss her until we are once again united. Kathy
