Christopher James Holborn

Christopher James Holborn, 60, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.  He was born October 21, 1961, at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Kenosha to Dorothy (Goergen) and Wesley Holborn.  He attended Holy Rosary Grade School, Bullen Junior High, Bradford High School, and Reuther High School.  He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

He worked at Ralph Mays Farm, Pepsi-Cola Warehouse, Da Vinci’s Bakery, Kenosha County Parks, Williams Electronics, ITO Industries, Shopko, various construction companies as a carpenter, and Super-Value.

He had a curious intellect and a thirst for knowledge.  He religiously read the Kenosha News.  He was an extraordinary chess player.  He loved to cook using his own innovative, creative recipes.

He relished spending time outdoors.  Most recently, riding his bike, enjoying the Kenosha lakefront, and creating unique artwork from driftwood.  He partook in some great adventures, walking across the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim, dodging a charging moose in Glacier National Park, bear watching at Yellowstone, climbing Mt. Elbert- the highest mountain in Colorado, multiday trekking through the highest mountain passes in the Sierra Nevada Range, and numerous deer hunting and fishing trips.  He enjoyed vacationing in San Diego during the coldest parts of the Wisconsin winter.

He had a kind heart, a gentle soul, and an enduring Christian faith.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his brothers, Michael Holborn, Mark (Zora) Holborn and Carl D. (Sheri) Holborn; his aunts, Dorothy Heacock, Mary (Don) Morgan, and Diane (Gayle) Giles; and his nephews and niece, Gokhan Uckardes, Ryan Holborn, Katelyn Brandes, and Carl A. Holborn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy (Goergen) and Wesley Holborn; his grandparents, Robert and Alyce (Machanke) Goergen, and Charles and Louise (Vossbeck) Holborn; an uncle, James Goergen, and his sister, Laurie Brandes.

Funeral services honoring Christopher’s life will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. James Catholic Church, 5804 Sheridan Rd.  Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Shalom Center of Kenosha or Saint James Catholic Church would be appreciated.
