Mona Piro, age 91, of Kenosha, WI, formerly of Morton, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10th, 2021 at home with her loving family by her side. Mona was born on February 9, 1930 in Peoria, IL to John and Rosemary (Klassert) Sisler. She was educated in Pekin area schools and graduated from Pekin Community High School. She married the love of her life, John Piro on January 22, 1949 in Pekin, IL. Mona worked through the years as a bookkeeper at Clark Oil and Refining Co., Caterpillar, Maurice Transport Co., and lastly at Pekin Daily Times until her retirement in 2005. She was a proud baptized Jehovah’s Witness for over 60 years. Mona enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; her beloved husband, John; a daughter, Diane Fryer; three brothers, Donald, Louis and John Sisler; a sister, Betty LaMasters and her granddaughter, Janean Sego.
Mona is survived by, three daughters, Valerie (Dan) Wilkes of Kenosha, WI with whom she made her home the last 12 years, Sherry Sego of Morton, IL and Ramona Flurer of St. Ann, MO; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; five brothers, Dorsey of Elizabethtown, IL, Charles (Linda) of North Pekin, IL, Michael of Marquette Heights, IL Marvin of Pekin and Ronald (Tina) of North Pekin, IL; three sisters, Pat (Bill) Beaty of Morton, IL, Marcia (Glen) Rhoades of Marquette Heights, IL and Tina Jolly of North Pekin, IL as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
In accordance with Mona’s wishes, there is to be a memorial service via Zoom, conducted by Elder Gerald Gosnell of the Sunrise Congregation in East Peoria, IL. For additional information, please contact the immediate family.
